Tea-drinking is a constituent part of Chinese culture. China is an original producer of tea and is renowned for its skills in planting and making tea.

 中国是茶的故乡，是世界上最早发现中国茶树、利用茶叶和栽培茶树的国家，中国也是世界茶道的宗主国。茶树的起源至少已有六七万年的历史。茶被人类发现和利用，大约有四五千年的历史。

在西方，最早从中国传入茶叶的是俄罗斯，从中国经过蒙古草原到俄罗斯，曾有一条“茶叶之路”。传入欧美后形成独特的欧美茶文化，这是对茶文化的发展和延续，欧美饮茶讲求效率和方便，但对茶叶以及中国茶文化和茶道的兴趣仍然丝毫不减！
